These things usually last for years but this box will probably last 2 years. They look and feel a lot more premium than the yellow/green plastic version I've occasionally bought in the past. I try to reduce waste and landfill and look for biodegradable products whenever I can find them. This is NOT a product where you sacrifice quality and functionality for better environmental considerations. I suspect it works too, maybe better than plastic competitors. I currently have a (pre-renovation) linoleum floor that is 25 years old and attracts dirt like a magnet. It takes a lot of scrubbing with elbow wax or a foot on a cleaning pad to cut through. So I use new sponges for washing dishes and after 2-3 months I transfer them to floor washcloths until they lose their properties, which can be 3-3. 9 months depending on how busy I am with other things and how annoying the floor or pets/kids are confusing me.
