After reading a million reviews I still couldn't decide on a portable playpen so I ordered Regalo, D.LIN and BabySeater as they had free returns. 8 Panel RegaloPros: + Easy to set up and take down + More space (if you have the space for it) 71 inches corner to corner and 65.5 inches edge to edge. The interior is slightly smaller as the edges are raised off the ground so the flat surface is closer to 61 x 59 in+. Seems pretty solid, although I'm wary of durability due to the negative reviews. on the crossbars with small screws at the crossings. - The Velcro that was sewn to the mesh felt sharp and felt like it might snag and damage the mesh in the future. - Might be too big for travel or if you don't have much space. - The bottom panel is very thin, no padding at all. I ended up sending it back as I think it's too big for my travels and the unfilled rods seemed a little dangerous. D.LINPPros: + Supplied with separate pad for the underside. It's thin and not the best quality, but it's nice that it can be washed separately.+ Comes with straps to tighten the temples before putting it away.+ Has a little padding on the temples and soft circles where cross the straps It's thin but enough for a child to hit it or fall over.+ The size is a good average between the other two. I measured it to be 59 inches corner to corner and 51 inches edge to edge (56.5" x 48" inside). Cons: - Doesn't really block like the other two. Descent. You need to fasten/unfasten all the straps on each leg to open and close it. For strengthening, you also need to attach suction devices that do not work on carpets or outdoors. (I find the photoshopped image of him sitting in the sand quite funny.) - The tote bag has a side zip that is a little more tricky to attach than the other two that slide on top, and several reviews mention the zip breaks. - One of the photos says the mesh is removable. It doesn't come with instructions on how to remove the mesh and as far as I can tell it can't be done without removing a lot of screws and fasteners. and I want the other two to do the same. However, I sent it back as it didn't seem as durable and was a lot more of a hassle to set up and store. BabySeater Pros: + Easy to install and remove. + Has a thin pad on the bottom (although more padding is needed). floor for parquet/tile floors). no crossing with protruding nuts.+ Zippered door means kids can climb in and out instead of trying to climb over; The zip on the outside just means kids can't escape from the inside. + Generally better quality (seams, material). + Removing the grille seems to be the easiest in this case. I wish it was a little bigger - 60 inches would be nice. - The most expensive of the three. - I wish it came with an air mattress that can be put in for extra cushion and easily removed for cleaning. - It would be nice if the sticks were padded like D.LIN. Of the three, my favorite is the BabySeater. I just wish he was a little bigger. I'm intrigued by The California's Pop n Go Beach Co, but since they don't offer free returns and it's significantly more expensive, I might settle for the BabySeater.
