I bought these bowls to replace plastic bowls that have survived their last day. I wanted lidded mixing bowls and was surprised at how hard it was to find a product I liked. I wasn't really looking for glass but I ended up getting this one and I have to say they are pretty good. I wish they weren't so heavy but they are made of pyrex. I haven't temperature tested them yet, but I expect them to perform as well as most Pyrex products. I often use these bowls for mixing and cooking and sometimes for food storage. The lids fit well - I tested them when cooking roast potatoes by adding the potatoes, olive oil, and seasoning to the bowl, replacing the lid, and then shaking. to cover the potatoes. I even turned it upside down and shook it a few more times. No leaks. Colored lids are good when you're in a hurry - it's easy to pull out the right-sized lid for the bowl you're using.
