The item arrived yesterday. Ordered Sunday 10th January, arrived 19th from China in suburban Chicago (MLK holidays may have delayed it by a day). The plate is SOLID. Flat black metal, thick. solid quality The same applies to screws. I thought I would have to replace them, but negative. They are also Keepers. I bought it to shoulder mount my Canon C100 and it's been there ever since. Did some testing like holding it upside down over the bed to check quality of screws and other things to make sure it's not too good to be a real steal. The other base I saw from Ikan and Shape was around $150-$200 and is just insane for a baseboard in my opinion. It cost $50 and I'm pretty darn happy with this purchase. It also stretches very well. The handles are good but a bit small. I took some off the base plate of the Kamerar shoulder rig so all mine were the same on the rig so I could tighten them with a wrench if needed. The ones included fit well. For me it's more for consistency, plus I have thumbs. Buy boldly. I will definitely be buying more items from Smallrig. If you are building a camcorder rig I suggest using this base platform with a cheaper shoulder mounted DSLR rig like the Kamarer here at Revain, or build your own. It's RELIABLE.
