Review on Wera 05008712001 Kraftform Phillips Screwdriver by Mark Quarterman

Best drivers, hands down. Great features, no tricks.

Excellent driver. I bought this to test the Wera drivers I've heard about and see if I need the full set. Little did I know the 8" blade was just a metal part of the driver sticking out of the handle, I figured 8" overall length. So keep that in mind when ordering. His grip is AMAZING. When used, there are 3 different detection zones. To loosen a screw or do the final tightening, you can grab the entire handle and get a good grip with good leverage. For free spins or very light loads you can just grab the end and spin it in quickly. Or you can grab half the grip at a reasonable speed between jobs without having to catch every turn like you would if you grabbed the whole grip. It might not seem like a big deal, but it's really useful in real-world applications. Prevents my hand from cramping after frequent use as you hold the pen differently and engage different muscles during use. The laser tip is a really nice feature in my opinion. This adds a lot of traction and helps avoid cams. In the pictures, the grooves spiral to the right, and all drivers spiral to the left. Not sure if it matters, but looks like pulling the screwdriver in even more when loosening the screw, rather than tightening like in the pictures, would help. I would prefer that because if you loosen a stuck/rusty screw you only have one chance to remove it. The fit and finish of the tip, and perhaps the help of a laser tip, allows you to do some silly things. human tricks. I like to show off this screwdriver and stick it in a Phillips head screw on my latch on my door and every 12 inches of this screwdriver is held perfectly horizontal at the tip only. And I can even pull the screwdriver. to open the door, that's the kind of handle these tabs have. Needless to say, I bought a full set of isolated drivers, Phillips, flat and square, shortly after purchase. The only bad thing I've heard about these is that the softer rubber inserts, the light green ones in this set, start to rot if grease or oil gets on them. I would use them on cars and probably buy another brand if that was my job.
