Our 2012 Ford Escape tailgate wouldn't open, the actuator would fail and not open when the button was pressed. The installation required several steps such as: B. Removal of the interior panels on the overhead door, and some necessary tools, which took about 30 minutes. This Escape model requires a T27 Torx bit to remove the drive and a Phillips screwdriver to remove the bezel. A long flat head screwdriver or small pry bar can be used to remove the clips on the panel. There are 3 electrical connectors and 2 connectors are the same size and shape so take pictures or label them so you don't mix them up when reassembling. Reasonable parts price saved a lot of money by doing it myself.
