As I've found with all OXO products, it's very well made and durable. The extra fine-meshed drain and the original spout are ideal for draining small grains such as quinoa and also suitable for larger grains such as rice. The round shape of the bowl contains loose grains without spilling. It drains a little slowly due to the small area of the holes, so it's best to measure and rinse the grains, then set them aside in the sink while you prepare the other ingredients. It's the perfect tool for the job.
