I needed a small power strip to get to the outlet behind my sofa and this was the best combination of size, function and price. It has a nice, clean design and doesn't have a crazy amount of sockets that end up creating a confusing nest of cables. Looking at the device and packaging, there was no UL certification (or ETL certification) to be seen - UL testing is important to me because it takes place behind the couch and in a place where kids are around all the time, therefore security is important . Concerned, I contacted the company to ask about the UL certification. Turns out they didn't test at Underwriters Lab, but hired Intertek Testing Services (another American testing company in Illinois) to do the same testing as UL, but usually at a lower cost. Intertek is a recognized and legitimate testing service that can use the same testing standards as UL and can be accepted if you require safety certification. They sent me an ETL report that matches the part numbers for this extension. As this is the same testing as UL and from a legitimate testing service in the US, this is equivalent to UL testing but it is not 'UL Listed' it is actually 'ETL Listed' which does not give the same recognition Has. In this case I am satisfied that it has a reliable safety certification. It should be noted that "high-speed charging" is not high-speed USB 3.0, it is high speed compared to USB 3.0 standard, but not as fast as USB-C or USB Quick Charge 3.0 What does that mean? This means when you plug your USB-C phone into a charger it will report that it's charging slowly, but for older USB 3.0 devices this will be considered "high speed". So I think it's a pretty solid device, nice design. . Advertising is misleading, but not to the point of lying. A solid purchase for the money.
