Curious Chemist

I've just started using this product and it seems to be working well. I'll let other reviewers talk more about it. What I wanted to share is how it actually works and what it actually contains. The advertising and labeling is very vague as to the actual chemistry at work (molecules are used!). Being a curious guy I tried to research it but couldn't find any details. When I actually bought it, I noticed a couple of the patents listed on the back cover and started looking for them. I found this to be the most informative: http://www.google.com/patents/US7371368 Zero Odor appears to be a pH buffering solution containing about 1% of the active ingredient chloramine-T (and/or related compound chloramine-B). and N-chloro-4-carboxybenzoylsulfonamide). Also some short chain alcohol which enhances the effects (and they note that tert-butanol leaves a pleasant smell, this may be their "indicator" smell. Chloramine-T) http://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Chloramine_TThey. appears to be used more frequently than biocides to disinfect medical or dental supplies. So if you're a curious amateur chemist like me, this can be very helpful. I always hate to buy something if I don't know what's in it.
