wife is 7 months pregnant and in a phase where she needs a lot more support. In previous pregnancies, she only used a few pillows. This time, however, she decided it would make sense to buy an actual pregnancy pillow. Not to mention that this pillow works better than regular pillows, but it's not quite what she expected. When we first received the pillow we were shocked at how small the packaging was. It was contained in a plastic pericardium the size of a smaller standard pillow. But hey, they put all that stuff in little boxes, so it's really tight. And that's exactly what it was. In 3 separate vacuum bags. One for the cover, one for the extra pillow and one for the largest pillow. We cut open the sacks and let the air out. The largest U-shaped pillow immediately began to balloon and swell. The smaller pillow didn't really do the trick. He really hasn't gotten any bigger. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but the smaller pillow has been left very flat with very little padding. It is as plump as a decorative mini pillow. But that didn't really interest us since we actually wanted the big U-shaped pillow. We left it on our extra bed for about 3 days to fully inflate. And in his defense, he's gotten a lot taller than he was, but that's not what the ads show. This is about half the swelling of what you see. It's not just lumpy. It seems to have pockets inside to keep the padding from moving, but the padding doesn't fully inflate and you have those pockets on each foot or something. The woman decided to use it anyway, and it's better than a regular pillow, but its lumpiness is rather discouraging. She has to put them together to make them work for her, which is fine, but then again, she could do that with regular pillows as well. The comfort of the inflated portions is great, but it's the lack of padding and lumpiness that really deprives this pillow of 5 stars. However, his cost helps him somewhat. Major brands of pregnancy pillows at local baby stores range from $200 to $500! It was part of that cost and it serves the purpose. Since she'll only really be using it for a few months, the price difference between it and its insanely expensive competitors makes it a much better buy. I would recommend this pillow if money is an issue and if you agree it's not quite as advertised.
