So yes, a 'high quality' camera ball swivel mount will cost more, but for a mini phone tripod -Kit it's decent. The cell phone holder works great, the tripod is not bad. The pivot loosens and gets sloppy when the set screw is loosened to adjust the ball joint to guide the phone, but gets quite tight again when you tighten the set screw. Opposite the locking screw is a set screw, but it doesn't fix anything, it just acts as a stop to hold the loose base. But I use it to film my YouTube channel and it works and for $16 it deserves 4 stars out of 5. Requires a small design change that costs the same: the base needs a taller shoulder that slides into the bead with the setscrew notch, moving the setscrew closer to the ground to engage that notch. without any additional material, but it would make the connection of the base to the collar much more secure.
