Two features limit the use of this white noise generator. However, within these limits it works well. The first caveat is that the audio output is disappointingly low, even at maximum volume. It doesn't take up any space and works best on a bedside table a few steps away from the sleeper. The second limitation is that only disposable batteries are used. I've struggled to get rid of devices that use disposable batteries due to the inconvenience involved (I never seem to keep batteries in stock when I need them). An internal battery that can be charged via USB would be much better. Pay another $5 for a 6-sound block and you get exactly that, plus more sounds. However, the batteries have held up after two weeks of use with this machine and I hope they will last for some time to come. The device is not only wireless, but also small and light. This feature makes it ideal for travel. It doesn't take up much space in your suitcase and you can easily place it next to your bed in a hotel. Four different sounds have a relaxing effect, and I like the sound of the waves the best. I prefer brown noise over white noise, and waves are the closest to pitch. The timer function is easy to use and helps extend battery life. My youngest son used this in his room and he says it helped him fall asleep faster. In our master bedroom we use an Echo Dot for white noise that fills the room so I can select the sounds I want. However, this white noise generator from Beurer works well for on the go. I recommend spending a few bucks more for a more powerful 6 noise unit.
