Perfect size for a large pan on the stovetop or grill. It even turns out great in the oven. Basically the 8" skewer is much more versatile than the longer versions. It works great for 3-4 king prawns or a regular chicken fillet (I slice tenders to make grilled satay). Good sharpness. Not a knife blade but sharp enough to go through meat and peppers/onions. They're also a little flat so whatever you put on the skewers doesn't twist as much. They last a lifetime - so glad my bamboo skewer days are over!
