For context, I'm using an ASUS VG248Q and this monitor is an upgrade in (almost) every way. In short, compared to other 27-inch 1440p 144Hz monitors, this monitor is a great solution for those who want to upgrade to a larger or higher resolution monitor but can't afford a more expensive one. Pros: + Build quality is A+, the finish doesn't feel cheap + Anti-glare coating on the front does a good job of eliminating glare + Colors look pretty accurate and have some brightness without feeling oversaturated Adjusts the backlight brightness based on Onscreen content to deepen black levels works fairly well and isn't distracting most of the time. It's only distracting when quickly switching from black to white.+ All the out-of-the-box settings gave me the best picture, I didn't find it necessary to change anything. than an IPS display, but inferior to a TN panel. It is best to leave the Response Time set to Faster. Even the "Most Fastest (MBR)" mode, which flashes the backlight for less lag and a faster perceived response time, was annoying and looked worse to me. This may be because I have an NVIDIA card, but the AMD FreeSync setting that works on my card degraded response times and didn't appear to offer any noticeable screen tear benefits. It's probably best to skip it unless you have an AMD card. Curve. It's a very steep curve, and on a flat screen it was pretty sharp at first. However, I quickly got used to it. What I found most frustrating was the rapid horizontal movement across the screen, whether in a top-down game or in a first-person game. But since I've gotten used to it, I don't see it as a disadvantage. This makes it a little easier to see the entire display edge-to-edge. Cons: - Kickstand. It's very simple and definitely where they have saved. It's just a fixed height stand with no pivot, no rotation - just tilt. OSD menu and control button. The joystick at the bottom of the monitor seems to be the cheapest part of the monitor and the OSD is pretty ugly in my opinion. The automatic switching between the two inputs, DP and HDMI, was a hit for me. Overall, I am very happy with this monitor and do not regret the purchase. Even if I hadn't bought it on sale, I'd still be satisfied. The response time is acceptable for the price paid and doesn't put me off even in competitive first-person shooters. I just wish it had a better stand - the height adjustment would make a world of difference for a taller person. I recommend it to anyone who wants to upgrade to the next level of monitors but isn't willing to spend more than $400.
