A solid bank, kids like to put money in it to save money. He does not read or count paper dollars, only coins. It was good for us, my kids end up with more money than they think. There is a plastic key on the bottom that opens the bank and a small button next to the battery compartment to reset to zero. I was amazed at the cost of piggy banks these days. The plastic ones broke quickly, the glass or ceramic ones are too expensive, and then I'm always afraid someone will drop them. This owl (kids call them Oulison, Oulexander, etc.) is fun and practical. Definitely recommend
