Good but not for me

Received yesterday and tried it last night. While it has some desirable features (battery backup, digital setting, and 2 alarms), there were too many things I didn't like or missed, such as: 1. The display is too bright, even in the minimum light. I also bought a Sangean RCR-22 for about $20 but wanted to try it too. The Sangean also has a bright display, but can be turned off completely and back on again with the touch of a button (or when an alarm goes off, the radio turns on, etc.).2. I live in a remote area about 55 miles south of New York. However, reception is not acceptable for either AM or FM. I had a Sony (also a digital tuner) 13 years ago which gave me the best (though still not great) reception. I tried changing the position, moving the wire antenna but to no avail. I get a lot of static electricity and interference that I didn't have with my old device. Sangean is about the same as my old device. This unit also only has 5 AM presets as opposed to 7 on my old Sony and Sangean. To be fair Sony has 2 FM band settings with 5 presets each, just like some car stereos, 10 total, not the Sangean's 7. of these are broadcast on AM so I would prefer the additional 2 AM presets that Sangean has. If your needs are simple and light doesn't bother you, the Sony is a good buy for the price. However, I'd rather spend the extra money on the Sangean (about $20 for a device that will last 10 years or more). Today I am returning the Sony Revain and keeping the Sangean.3. My old Sony and Sangean have the ability to set alarms to be active or inactive on specific days. For example, I want the alarm to go off only on weekdays, not weekends, so I turn it off on Saturday and Sunday. Sangean has this feature, Sony doesn't, and if it does, I haven't found it and it's not mentioned in the manual.4. The Sangean clock syncs with the atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado and the function is ready to use. Supposedly the Sony is preconfigured from the factory, but arrived 2 minutes faster and has no auto-dial function. The Sony alarm clock snoozes the alarm for 10 minutes, which is way too long for my needs. My old Sony was 7 minutes, which was spot on. The Sangean takes 5 minutes, which is too short, but I'll hold out for too long as I rely on my watch to get up on time and catch the S-Bahn. System. Sony has a backup lithium battery; Sangean only saves backup settings for 1 hour. Of course, when power is restored the Sangean will automatically reset the time, but the user will need to reset alarms, station presets, etc.
