I can't speak to the usefulness of this product as a monitor stand as I didn't buy it for that, but it works great (both in terms of utility and aesthetics) as a stand for my little computer tower. It was very easy to put together, strong enough to hold the tower lightly and more importantly it doesn't slip if I need to move or lift the tower for any reason. Its height on each of the three tiers is great for ventilation, and the fact that the stand's "table" has holes makes it even better for ventilation. I think given the size of the riser it will work well even for a single 27” monitor; he's strong enough for that. So yes, I would recommend it for both the purposes I use it for (emphasis on the SMALL tower) and as a monitor stand.
