A good alternative to leaving the shaker on the counter. At the moment we only use two bowls. Out of the box the difference in texture and tone of the wood was very noticeable but after washing before use they dried to a very muted tone which we prefer. Sealing them can prevent discoloration and drying out, but we didn't bother to explore this option. They don't come with spoons but I bought small wooden spice spoons from Revain and they fit perfectly and free my hands.
