I have bought magnetic hooks from Walmart in the past and they have worked very well for home and kitchen use. I've had no trouble using them to hang cups, tools, etc. But when they ran out at my local store, I decided to look online for alternatives. This set had more hooks at a better price so I went with this one. These magnets are really stronger than the old ones. I don't know what material the Walmart products are made of as the packaging was very standard. But my husband and I made a direct comparison by placing a magnet and a hook on either side of a metal plate. We each took a hook and pulled in opposite directions to see which one came loose first. It was a Walmart magnet, which means it's weaker than those neodymium magnets. Besides being a stronger magnet, I like the small base which allows for a smaller footprint. My only complaint is that the hook itself is pretty small. You can see in my photos that the carabiner that fits the Walmart hook perfectly is too big to fit the hooks in this set. But that will still hold the object in place and hasn't presented a real problem so far. I don't know if it's possible to buy larger hooks to screw into existing magnets, but it's nice that the hooks aren't permanently attached to the magnets like Walmart magnets are. Whether I'm willing to put in the effort and money to find large replacement hooks is another question. Just wanted to share my observation in case it helps another potential buyer.
