Professionals always need a set to measure the size of metal rings. For those who just want to determine their own ring size, for the price it helps (I wouldn't pay more for it). It has the advantage of having metric sizes on one side of each ring and imperial (US) sizes on the other side, making it versatile. The only problem is measuring the band rings. This is normal with thin rings, but banded rings sit tighter due to the covered area of skin. You probably want to get a "good fit" with this caliber and then order a half or even a full size for your engagement ring.
