The stainless steel version is the only one on this model that will not rust. Enamel is beautiful, but it takes iron to bond to it, and iron rusts. The stainless steel kettle is made of the same material inside and out and will not rust. Also, they must have changed the pipe. I've read in other reviews that the kettle spills when pouring because the whistle is attached to the spout with a plastic ring that can be seen in some pictures. This model lacks that ring and flows like a champ. No shedding, no rusting, just wish the whistle was a little louder.
