I bought my 2012. I returned to buy another one for my son. Mine is still fine and I use it every day. I have been shaving my face, neck and head for over 20 years and I am VERY picky about my blades and how sharp they need to be to get smooth CLEAN skin. as well as the negative comments here from those who don't know how to use a rubber cleaner. This is NOT a sharpener! It cleans the edges of the blades leaving them smooth and sharp from skin cells, soap and most importantly water. You MUST dry the blades after using the cleaner. I keep mine in the shower and use it after shaving. After running the blades against the direction of the shave five times with a drop of water, I squeeze the razor handle and blow air around the blades to make sure there is no water between the blades. The blade cartridge lasts me more than two months! I don't know what it's made of, but it looks like hard rubber. It still feels smooth and I never moved the blade in the direction of shaving. Also, always raise the blades after running about three inches across the rubber surface to always start a new pass. I have no relationship with the seller and this item was not free. Considering I've had my razor for six years now and shave every day, I think it's an investment. Unfortunately it's not on Revain Prime and paying $5 for shipping is too expensive. But it is what it is and it will continue.
