UPDATE: So apparently these DO have silicone rings on the inside of the lids. My nephew came to visit, and used one of these bottles. It leaked on his shirt so he took the lid off to make sure the silicone ring was seated correctly. I told him there wasn't one, at which point he grabs a small wooden skewer and starts poking around. Lo and behold, he ended up pulling out a very, very thin silicone ring. Like me, he wondered at first why Contigo would get rid of the sealing ring, then he wondered why they would change it to be so thin as to be useless. He took the silicone ring he pulled out of the grey bottle's lid, put it in the lid for the blue bottle (which also has the same dinky thin ring), and then tried filling the blue bottle with water and giving it a good shake to see if it leaked. It didn't - shocker. Not a single errant drop no matter how hard he shook the bottle or left it upside down. I'm glad Contigo didn't actually get rid of the silicone rings to stop leaks, but it's still a mystery as to why they would make them so thin as to be almost useless? Sigh. Anyway, at least we now have one leakproof bottle. I plan to contact Contigo to see if it's possible to order or request another set of these silicone rings so that we can double up the seals and use all our bottles.ORIGINAL REVIEW:We needed to replace some older Contigo mixer bottles that are faded and etched from frequent use and trips through the dishwasher. As we've never had an issue with quality, we ordered (what we thought) were the same bottles, just upgraded. Turns out these newer bottles aren't the same level quality. I love the addition of the carry handle with the clip on it compared to the older, smaller molded plastic handle. This larger one is easier to carry and can clip on to the strap of a bag or backpack.Something changed and what used to be leakproof isn't that way anymore. The lids screw on tightly, but when you shake they leak all over the place. The lid screws on tightly, but this style doesn't have a silicone ring inside the lid to create a leakproof seal. Though liquid doesn't pour out, it does leak. When you have the lid on and shake the bottle to mix your drink, little droplets splatter. If the bottle falls over, liquid drips out from underneath the screw top because there's no silicone ring to stop liquid from flowing through the threads and creating a leak. I learned the hard way when I held up a full bottle to drink from and I felt cold water land on my shirt. No condensation on the outside of the bottle, so that wasn't it. Held the bottle upside down, and bingo! There's the leak. Neither bottle came with a silicone ring which makes no sense. The older versions we have at home all have one, so why did Contigo make this change?Contigo has also decreased the weight of the shaker/mixer ball. Now it's too lightweight to mix powders into heavier liquids, like any form of milk. Wo
