Review on Bernat Blanket Yarn, Sand by Chris Jens

Perfect for eco-friendly water balloons!

I've seen a lot of posts and pins about the reusable eco-friendly water balloons. I thought I'd give it a try. I had to tinker with the free pattern a bit to find a way that suited my tight crochet style, but I eventually worked up a bunch with a K hook and some modifications. I got about 16 balloons out of this big ball. My 12-year-old son thought they might be lame, but pronounced them "epic" after actually trying them. They do wash up well (even with the pine needles that got stuck in them from the big battle) and dry just fine. They then soak the water back up for the next round. I'll probably be buying more because this "lame" project turned out to be so much fun and the kids want more to use with their friends. Yay! I just wish it wasn't quite so expensive.

Pros
  • Bernat Blanket Yarn is made with anti-pill technology, ensuring that your finished project will look new for years to come
Cons
  • Can be difficult to create fine details

I always love bernant yarn the only problem i had with these skeins is that if i had to undo a mistake at a knot, i had to cut it instead of get the knot out. Otherwise it would unravel the yarn into just fluff.
