I've seen a lot of posts and pins about the reusable eco-friendly water balloons. I thought I'd give it a try. I had to tinker with the free pattern a bit to find a way that suited my tight crochet style, but I eventually worked up a bunch with a K hook and some modifications. I got about 16 balloons out of this big ball. My 12-year-old son thought they might be lame, but pronounced them "epic" after actually trying them. They do wash up well (even with the pine needles that got stuck in them from the big battle) and dry just fine. They then soak the water back up for the next round. I'll probably be buying more because this "lame" project turned out to be so much fun and the kids want more to use with their friends. Yay! I just wish it wasn't quite so expensive.
