I can't remember the last time I saw a spinning drive, but this one is USB powered. My Windows 10 system shows 465GB (in exFAT format) as expected. My system recognized it straight away, including through the dock, and was able to format and use it right away. I tested transferring around 90GB of data and it worked at consistent USB3 speeds, maintaining 85+/Mbps throughout the transfer. This is important as usually an SSD with so much data will lose speed as it gets hotter, but that hasn't happened with this drive, which I like. And like a hard drive, it is actually more durable to store data for long periods of time. The cable is a good length (19 inches) and allows you to place the drive away from the computer. He's great for that.
