My computer is 5 years old. Because of past experiences, he must die. The most likely failure of a computer is the hard drive, as it is the only one with moving parts and portable media. So I decided to intervene by cloning the hard drive. In the past, I've been doomed to A.) buy a new PC and reinstall all my software (not to mention restore files from a backup) or replace a failed drive and perform a restore, which left me with Option A left me with the same problems. After trying to clone an HP all-in-one hard drive to a USB external hard drive within a week, this magic box saved me. I tried 3 different clone apps. They all completed the clone after waiting up to 10 hours for a 1TB drive, but I couldn't boot from the external hard drive even after disabling Secure Boot in Windows 10 and changing the boot order would have. Eventually I decided to change course and bought the same hard drive along with this docking station. The drive and dock together were nothing but cloning software. Then I removed my old drive and put it in slot A. Put the new drive in slot B and started cloning. 1.5 hours done. I put the new drive back in the computer and it worked. The disc used is now safely hidden in anticipation of the day of death. The docking station worked perfectly right away. (DO NOT CONNECT TO YOUR PC IF YOU MAKE A SEPARATE CLONE). You can connect if you want to read data from docked drives, but leave it disabled to clone one drive to another. Good luck and happy cloning!
