I would say it is necessary when removing the cover from the GPU to remove the stock fans and get better fans with this one to use splitters. Also, to water-cool your GPU with AIO, use a mounting bracket like G12. Your GPU will have one or two fan headers just like your motherboard, but smaller. You need this to convert to normal size. One thing I would change is that if they could do it with a right angle connection to the GPU it would be perfect. I broke some plastic on one of the GPU fan headers because it just wants to move up. If you're using G12, this can be a little annoying. However, it works well with the 1080Ti SC2 ICX card.
