So, full disclosure, when I ordered I thought it was a hair straightener. I was confused by the shape until I realized my mistake, but then I thought, hey, let's see what happens. So it's definitely a weird tool. I have thick, coarse hair that is fairly easy to style but usually requires a higher temperature to achieve the desired hold. This device only heats to medium temperatures (200 something, I don't remember right away) so it really couldn't curl my hair very effectively unless I had very little curled hair at a time. . Since I have incredibly thick hair and a lot of it, that's not really feasible for me. However, if you have fine/fine hair without body, I bet it's much quicker and easier for you - just use a texturizing spray and something to set the style in place as it's very thin. . So I tried this device as I would use a smaller flat iron to get curls. It was better that way, but of course he's so big he couldn't curl his hair as well as a smaller barrel. The amazing thing is that this thing REALLY works well as a straightener and for some reason didn't flatten my hair completely. It was straight but still had a body; It's probably due to the lower heat. It's not great if you're trying to get close to your head just because it's such a big flat iron, but I was actually quite mesmerized by the texture of my hair after straightening it with this flat iron. I mainly recommend this to women with fine/straight hair in general. While I'll probably use it as a flat iron from time to time to get that interesting lift I don't usually get from straightening my hair, I don't know if it's worth the purchase price just for that. But if you have hair that specifically needs a beachy wave to give it volume, this is probably a great product for that purpose, as the style is really demure and definitely more about the movement of straight hair than any significant hairstyle . there's something about that.
