I bought these because I knew I needed to cut a few for my project. Both the ones I cut and the ones I didn't cut worked great. Inside: Inside the outer sheath are small individually sheathed wires. You can cut them open, peel off the outer jacket, and then (carefully) strip the individual wires on the inside. The wires are stranded copper if you go into them and can be soldered directly to the LED strip pins if doing custom work like mine. It was nice because the colors matched and I could choose where I would leave one of the finished ends. Be sure to protect them with heat shrink tubing as these are small, flimsy wires and you don't want to leave them exposed. Outside: If not cut, the wires remain soft and comfortably flexible, but not soft. Connectors did not feel loose. All cable ends are female but come with male to male connectors. There is a small triangle on the connector that indicates the common wire so you can keep track of the orientation.
