I am DIT for TV and film industry. Part of my job is downloading digital camera memory cards, and I download a lot of them. I've blown about 5 card readers over the last few years. They all appear to be very poorly constructed, using a small USB 3.0 B connector that breaks easily. I've only had this reader for a few months so can't comment on its long-term reliability, but so far so good. It seems to have a very solid construction (more so than most). It also has a larger Type B USB 3.0 connector, which is much stronger and less likely to break.
