I bought this camera for my 6 year old granddaughter. While it's far from a toy, the onscreen graphics and fun features will appeal to younger folks. It's literally point and shoot: turn it on, take a picture. The DSLR has no manual controls, but does have minimal exposure controls and even a built-in two-stop ND filter, although the manual doesn't explain how this works. The flash can be turned off, on and automatic. You can add stars, crowns, bubble effects and more to your photos, as well as many graphic effects. Men's hands are not that big. But I could get used to handling this camera. If you're used to holding a heavier camera, you'll have to work hard to hold it steady, it's so light. camera and plug in the whole camera to charge it. You cannot charge the battery and take photos with a second battery. An optional Nikon wall charger is available for charging the proprietary battery off-camera. I spent about $200 on a camera, a spare battery, a battery charger, and a memory card (it's not included and is a small amount). internal memory) and housing. The menu is simple and easy to navigate yet offers enough features to pique the interest of a young person or casual photographer, the shock resistance protects against the clumsy hands of young people and the weatherproof properties are a plus for outdoor use. I found setting up the Nikon SnapBridge app to connect to a cell phone (storage) and the Nikon Image Space app (for online storage) rather tedious, but once I did that the images uploaded quickly when the camera paired with a phone was first to the camera and then to the internet. So it's a handy camera for people who don't have a computer to save or upload. But that's really good about this camera: it has excellent image quality for its class. In good light, images are very sharp and clean, with true color, little noise, and great detail. The flash shines quite evenly and provides enough light for clear indoor shots. The flash was comfortable even when fired directly at people's faces from a fairly close range, and the skin tones were accurate. In theory, 13 megapixels can print an 11x14 photo, but I've seen much more expensive compact cameras where the image quality wouldn't support it. Although most users of this camera will not print in such a large format, if at all, I think this camera will print 11x14 in decent conditions. What a great camera for the price. If my granddaughter, who fell in love with her immediately, takes care of this camera, then she will "grow" with her completely. At a price that is almost at the lower end of the entry-level range for any type of digital camera, this camera is great value for money, all the more so because of Nikon's established Coolpix brand.
