My 13 year old Dirt Devil Breeze developed a habit of burning belts which baffled me until I read a helpful customer review. I found that the stubble hardens with age and that was the reason. Like, something like. I noticed that this new brush has much more flexible bristles than the original roller, but I still burned the belts, although not as severely as before. After considerable effort, I added 1/8" spacers to the screws holding the bottom plate to the chassis between them, which countersunk the bristles so they barely protrude from under the plate. Problem solved, although I am still confused as to what is required. This new brush appears to have the exact dimensions of the original.
