I bought this when my little Maltese started experiencing mobility issues. As she became increasingly less mobile, she was able to lean her head on the side and get comfortable. We did have to supervise her because she's so tiny (4 pounds) she sometimes slipped down between the cushion and the side, but what was so awesome about this was that it seemed to be the only place she was truly comfortable. After surgery, it's a great physical therapy tool as she hops in and out and it forces her to try to balance. Also, before surgery, she was a bit incontinent so we washed this bed almost daily. We would put it on the air dry in the dryer and it came out fluffy and soft - just like new. Now that our little bit is on the mend I came back looking for a blanket too. I cannot say enough about this bed. Also - little tip - to fluff it up faster, throw the inside pieces (the pillow and bolster) into the dryer for about 10 minutes on high heat and those foam pieces will fluff right up!
