It took about 2 1/2 hours but it works! I don't know why I'm so surprised, but I'm surprised. As many others have pointed out, the instructions don't tell you how to do everything and I needed help from YouTube. The hardest part was removing the glass. The instructions say to heat one side and work one side at a time, but I don't think the blow dryer is hot enough to heat the whole side at once. I focused the hair dryer on one point and worked on that point. At first I tried lifting the jar with the blade (included) but I found a video that suggested driving the blade down first after heating and then raising it so the wedges could be inserted. I hit one with a wedge, heated the areas next to it, and then wedged further. Removing and replacing the home button cable was a little tricky, as there was a small piece of electrical tape that had to be removed and then it wasn't clear how to insert the new cable from the new screen. Thanks again YouTube for this step. It was also a little fiddly to replace the metal piece with 3 screws as I find that one of the cables on the new screen is a bit short. I felt like I needed 3 hands to hold everything at once. I used cotton gloves when everything was open and then screwed everything back together. Closing the new screen was also a bit difficult due to the small 3-inch bar that had to fit in a small space. Not all parts were used and I wasn't sure if I should use glue or not. My current iPad case seems to hold everything in place. So far so good. Hope it lasts.
