Review on Starrett SM46WRL Permanent Adhesive Measuring Tool by Ikki Martini

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I can't find a single mistake.

Even better than I expected. I used masking tape on a table saw guard and couldn't be happier. Cuts with side cutters and holds tight. 3M adhesive adheres very well to smooth painted surfaces. Because it's made of (spring?) steel, it mounts STRAIGHT and level with minimal effort. The first foot is graduated in 1/32, the rest of the band is graduated in 1/16. This proved very handy - the small gauge is great for short cross and rip cuts, while the wider gauges will (almost) always suffice for cuts from 12" to 50". I haven't used the metric side, but I think it's good to know there is one and I've never understood the logic behind putting the same scale on the tape twice. First time I found that I used a fence scale instead of a tape measure to set the cutting width. I have not found any noticeable inaccuracies in any lengths of 50 inches or longer that I use. Starrett has an excellent reputation in every industry I've worked in - it's great to see quality translate into a more consumer-centric product. at a very reasonable price.
