This GYGPSV5-NEO is for a Pixhawk APM drone autopilot, except I am using mine with an Elegoo Mega2560. This unit has two devices built in. A Honeywell HMC5983 compass with magnetic compensation. Compass output is I2C, on 0x1E Arduino compatible with HMC5883L_Simple Compass.h, and it also has a Swiss uBlox-NEO-M8N-0-10 on TX-RX which works with GPS U-Blox NEO M8N parser found on forum Arduino, Ublox.h. Two devices in one. The unit is completely 3 volts so I ran mine through a 5 to 3 level shifter and found that timing is absolutely crucial. On my Mega the compass must be read while serial1 is not available and a 10 millisecond delay was needed after M8_Gps.encode. This GPS has many settings so I downloaded U-center from uBlox and used a 3 volt serial to TTL USB adapter to set the unit to pedestrian mode. The default is 9600 baud which works great for me. It is possible to set WAAS mode which can make it more accurate. Using the supplied antenna indoors mine routinely picks up 19 satellites and uses 12 but it takes a while, a couple minutes to happen when first started. Apparently this is because the N version is a bit slower than the P version. A star would generally be subtracted for lack of documentation but since this is marketed for an autopilot. 5 stars.
