Review on Precise Humidity Control With Xikar PuroTemp Round Digital Hygrometer, 10-Second Refresh Rate by Bob Larson

This hygrometer or a similar model from the same company was advertised as being the same size as most holes on the fronts of humidors. This is indeed the case, but the sensor holes are on the front face of this hygrometer, so unless you install it backwards, which defeats the purpose of a round hygrometer that fits in the hole of a humidor, it will only measure the humidity of the ambient air, not of the air inside the humidor.So I left the cheapo analog hygrometer in its place on my humidor and placed this one inside where I can still read it through the glass cover on top. In the end, this may have been the best arrangement anyways, because the analog hygrometer still looks classier than a black, plastic digitial one, but I have the digital reading at hand. I calibrated it with the salt method, but I can never be too sure if I put enough water in the salt or too much. Right now, my humidor has been saying 70% so I guess I'll find out next time I light up a cigar. (By the way, if you're looking for an excellent, yet fairly affordable cigar, my personal favorite is the Flor de Oliva- mild to medium, smooth, and quite rich.)
