I bought to use as a quick way to set the length projection on a lathe at work. I could never get the constant length of my parts. I've been in the machining industry for 40 years and this is a fairly common way of specifying length in simple turning operations. I couldn't figure out what my problem was and found that when using 1-2-3 by placing the flat part of the base on the 2" side and moving the scale on the 3" side there was a gap of about 0.05. between scale and block. I put it on the cutter and recut the base. Not for precision or semi-precision work. What is quality control?
