I bought these as a gift and only had limited time to test them before handing them out, but I was very impressed. I already have another budget pair of binoculars but at a slightly higher price point: the Bushnell H2O series. This is another popular model at Revain, often selling for $50, give or take. For comparison, I bought Skygenius on sale for $13. I'm comparing these two products - Bushnell H2O and Skygenius - to tell you if it's worth spending the extra money to bump the price up a notch. this. Watch back to back for 5 minutes. Interestingly, Bushnell has an 8x magnification and Skygenius has a 10x magnification, but from my perspective they are about the same magnification. I don't know which one is to blame here as I don't have any other pairs to compare them to. Build Quality The materials used in both the Bushnell and Skygenius have a rubberized texture and feel of similar quality. Both come with a canvas case and also seem to be about the same quality to me. The Bushnell has a slightly nicer strap that stretches with the fabric to make it more comfortable around the neck, while the Skygenius has a narrower strap, but both work and are long enough for most people. The Skygenius' focus wheel really matched the Bushnell's - both were great. One final note, the Bushnell is always a bit more compact when you close it in the case, maybe 1/2 inch if that's important to you. Although I don't really care, they're both pretty small. Features Both pairs allow individual adjustment of each eye. A pair of Bushnells are marketed as waterproof and fog-proof while the Skygenius are not, but I never tested that feature. One of the great things about the Bushnell is that you can slide the eyecups in or out, which is great for eyeglass wearers. I prefer to take my glasses off though, so a pair of Skygenius would be satisfying for me even without this feature. Can't comment on durability as I've only had a pair of Skygenius for a day or so. They look well built and seem to be holding up well, but that's just a guess. A pair of Bushnells has lasted me 2-3 years and are holding up great no matter the cost. Conclusion In my opinion, the two binoculars are optically very similar, although Skygenius binoculars are about 3 times cheaper. If retractable eyecups or water resistance are important to you, it might be worth getting a pair of Bushnells. Those two qualities aren't a deal breaker for me so I think the Skygenius is excellent value for money and personally I would buy them over a pair of Bushnells every time.
