First of all it's not 100% wool so be careful what you buy. (They would be way more expensive if they were 100% wool so you wouldn't get ripped off.) I love these socks. Inside they are very soft and cuddly and also very elastic. I wear women's clothing in size 9.5 and can actually pull it over my leg! (But they fit my 3 year old daughter perfectly). As mentioned, they make pills in the laundry. So if you want them for photos or a special occasion, don't wash them in advance. They don't have an odd smell and I had no problem getting my daughter to wear a pair right out of the box. (But I pre-washed the rest because I think that's the best practice.) Ultimately, it would be better if they didn't pill, but they're great comfy socks and we love them. They keep my daughter's feet warm. We will probably order more next year.
