After watching many videos of people having great difficulty removing and installing this bearing I thought I'd leave a review on how I did it. First disconnect the upper intermediate steering shaft. To remove the bearing I used a metal rod about a foot long and half an inch in diameter. I attached one end of the rod to the bearing housing flange and then hit the other end with a hammer. Two hard hits with a hammer and the bearing popped out. The hardest part of installing a new bearing is getting the bearing perfectly aligned with the shaft. I found that moving the accelerator pedal to the side makes this process much easier, albeit still a bit more difficult. To remove the accelerator pedal, simply unscrew the two nuts that secure the accelerator pedal to the firewall. Then move the pedal to the side. Once the bearing is on the shaft, don't try to wrestle with it for an hour and scratch all your hands trying to place the bearing. Since the upper intermediate shaft is already disconnected, remove the shaft along with the rubber boot attached to the firewall in the engine compartment. You can then use the hole in the firewall to install the bearing. For this I used a 34mm deep bushing with a 6" extension. A smaller diameter bushing would also work, I've only used this. The bushing just needs to be large enough to fit through the steering shaft and deep enough to insert the bushing with the extension attached through the hole in the bulkhead (engine compartment side) so that the bushing overlies the steering shaft and touches the bearing housing, then hit the end of the bushing with a two pound hammer Socket extension until the bearing is secure.This took about ten to fifteen hits with a hammer but I didn't hit the extension hard because I didn't want to ruin the new bearing.A carpenter's hammer will also work if that's all that You have. It just takes more effort. Make sure the tab on the bearing housing flange is aligned with the slot on the steering column. They need to be aligned that way en that the bearing housing is fully seated. The protrusion must go into the groove, otherwise the bearing housing will vibrate over time and the bearing will quickly wear out and fail. The Dorman steering shaft bearing was just what I needed to eliminate the rattling in my steering column. Hope that helps.
