As mentioned in another recent review, the Vitamix doesn't seem to be what it used to be. My old oyster was dying; I borrowed a Vitamix from a friend to see if I liked it. The biggest problem with this Vitamix model was that making smoothies required me to do more at once than I normally want to do. This device is 5 years old. I bought it on October 1st; The idea was that it had a smaller blade base so I could make smaller smoothie portions. All the smoothies I've made with it have been slices. Let me repeat that. In that expensive $400 blender, no matter how much I diluted it with juice, there were ALWAYS pieces of fruit in the smoothie. A couple of times when I got a thick enough smoothie it was very difficult to get it all the way out as the blades cover most of the base and keep it inside. Luckily, Revane took the refund. Looks like a ninja or something.
