I like that these things are not fabric. I can hold hot objects much longer than my other gloves. And the texture helps ensure nothing slips out of my hand. I've tried to show in the photos that the texture on both sides of the mittens is nice and firm, so it doesn't matter what you wear on your right hand and what on your left. Or if you only use one, it doesn't matter which hand you put it in. This is great because if you're like me you never plan on wearing an oven mitt until you hear the oven timer go off or you need to get something out of the oven RIGHT NOW! You never want to think about which glove to take or which hand I have free. They are very flexible, allowing you to grab the largest items with ease. That might just be me (because I have pretty small hands), but even with a lot of suppleness, I still couldn't pick up smaller things. But I don't think it's a quality issue as my hands have a hard time "fitting" in an oversized pot holder and that's why I gave it 5 stars.
