Register the CMAC address in your Comcast account

Finally connected the modem today. After going to the Comcast installation and activation page and following the instructions, the internet worked fine. The problem was that I had no dial tone. Went on Comcast's tech support chat and long story short if he had asked me for the CMAC address (printed on a sticker on the bottom of the modem) we would have saved about 45 minutes back and forth. CMAC must be registered with your Comcast account for the modem to function properly. As soon as he registered the CMAC address in my account, the buzzer immediately went off. I replaced a Comcast Arris TM822g with a used Arris TM822g. The internet is just as fast and the phone is as clean as ever. Great offer! I'm very happy that I'm now saving $10 a month on rent knowing that if anything goes wrong I'll own the modem. No more free replacements when a power surge frys it. The modem was installed in Massachusetts. People in other parts of the country seem to get different results when they contact Comcast.
