Get creative. It's a desktop mount too, guys.

The only pictures I've seen of what the product is more or less supposed to do is of it mounted on a wall or stand. When not in use, it folds flat on a vertical surface. I really wanted a desk mount, so I flipped the script and treated it as a desk mount. I used some wood to thicken the edge on my workbench. I then threw away the supplied screws and used my own 3" screws. I have the screws in the bench and boom, it's a pretty darn solid mount. When not in use it lifts up and stands upright. It stands up my workbench and drill bit is 12" away, so if I ever need to move it, I just unscrew the screws and voila, out of the way. The zipper screws back on and reinstalls in seconds. Installed and lowered, it sits below horizontal. I added a wood brace on the edge of the bench to keep the bar from dropping below horizontal. This allows my brake cables to go through the shoe channel straight into V, which is described next. Yes, it can trap your brake cable completely under the top tube.Fortunately, this isn't a problem for most bikes we have.Inside the V-shaped red sponges made of softer plastic, there is a small channel with enough space for most cables. If possible, try to keep the lever almost horizontal so your cable sits squarely in V. The action of the clamp is light and taut. Thanks to a wing nut for easy initial installation and a quick-release flipper, it's all pretty quick. The jaws are red plastic and are a bit soft, but not so soft that you actually have to press the clamp onto the pipe and not so tight that you have to worry about pinching or damaging anything. When mounted on a bench, the quick-release fin is on the bottom. To fix this I removed the head and rotated it 180 so the fin was up. I have another workbench that has vertical posts that would allow me to mount it higher and as intended, so I may update my post later with more testing. /partitions/placements. In any case, this solved the problem with the limited number of mounts on the bench.
