I bought this bag to use as a purse. I have a service animal and needed something I could carry that we both need and that wouldn't be too big for me. I took that too when I was flying. I often use a wheelchair and a regular backpack doesn't fit on my back and on a chair. However, I could carry this bag if I reclined the seatback. So far it's holding up well and I'm really rough with my bags. I can't say anything about the waterproofness as I haven't tried it in the water yet. But so far I really like this bag.
