I'm in my 50's, 5ft 6in, 145lbs and I bought the size L as some people have suggested they run small. The big one was perfect. I tried a pair of these convertible pants at my local outdoor store for an upcoming 3 week camping trip and realized the style just wouldn't work for me. Just not happy with the fit. I saw them and decided to give them another try at college. I'm glad I did. They're just a little long, but I don't like shorts. I think the length is just right. They don't stretch in shoes. Doesn't sit low on the hips like many other models, sits more on the waist which I like Would I buy again.
