This Mitutoyo ruler isn't cheap, but it's worth the money. I needed a strong and accurate metric ruler that I could read to within 100-200 microns at a distance of about half a meter. This line is perfect for this purpose. It's made of stainless steel and thick enough to stay straight. It can be easily bent to follow a smooth curve. Don't waste your time with cheap knockoff or plastic rulers that are not accurate and have scales that don't start at the end of the ruler. It does, and it makes measuring from the flange very easy and accurate.
