They were working great until I changed cages and had the brilliant idea of soaking them in water. Once the screw in the middle gets wet, and I suspect it rusts, the noise gets pretty loud and it even becomes difficult for the animal to turn, depending on how much damage the water has done. You can spin it really fast to scrape the rust and make it mute again, but things have changed since it got wet. I replaced them and now only use damp paper towels or Clorox wipes. :) Also, I'm crazy about these wheels. My robo and a smaller midget can't seem to get the quiet Kaytee spinners to budge and only one of them likes flying saucers so this is a great alternative to other wheels on the market!
