I bought this product to back up school files on my MacBook Pro. I have used this brand with Windows computers before and had no problems. I connected the device and it asks you to download an application to save files to it. After installation, you will be prompted to install the driver to use the product. However, the driver to be installed is outdated and does not work with the latest OS version (HighSierra in my case). Gives you a link to a website with the latest driver (made by a third party company, not Western Digital) and the only way to use it is to PAY for the latest driver or a free trial in TEN DAYS to start. However, I loaded the driver and along with the computer freezing I was unable to make the disk writable. The program opened and closed by itself in the background. Eventually, the OS gave me a warning that the app posed a security risk. In short, don't waste your time. It claims to be compatible with Mac when in reality it is not. Even if you somehow got it working, there are much better and faster options out there. A complete waste of money.
